About Sara Schoenberger

What makes an object sacred or useful? Why do we bring these items into our homes and our rituals? By stripping back the superficiality of aesthetics, objects begin to reveal their inherit values or given meanings. I am always looking for the blurred line of spirituality and functionality, and aim to express a unique perspective on western societal norms.

My work is dependent on process. It begins with an idea, and then detailed research and study into ancient, often forgotten processes. Through generation and iteration I begin to build. While my craft is focused on mixed media, metal working, moldingmaking and casting, I also often integrate found objects that add complexity to the story I am telling.

The end result is lighting fixtures and one-of-a kind installation pieces.
